During the event, LULAC honored 30 college scholarship recipients for their scholastic achievement. The students are inspiring&nbsp;examples of&nbsp;people who are making a significant difference in the Hispanic community.&nbsp; We are grateful to P&amp;G, Center for Closing the Gap and John Pepper for their support and partnership.&nbsp; Applications for 2023 LULAC Scholarships will be available on January 31, 2023<\/p>\n<\/div><\/details><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-coblocks-accordion-item\"><details><summary class=\"wp-block-coblocks-accordion-item__title\"><strong>LULAC Young Readers program<\/strong><\/summary><div class=\"wp-block-coblocks-accordion-item__content\">\n<p>Young Readers is a program that instills the love of reading in children at an early age (kindergarten to the 1<sup>st<\/sup> grade) and teaches the parents the importance that reading has in the success of their children in school. This is an afterschool program.&nbsp; Currently we have two programs at AMIS and two at Rising Star Academy, thanks to Procter and Gamble\u2019s sponsorship.&nbsp; There are many volunteer opportunities for tutoring and mentorship at both schools.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/details><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-coblocks-accordion-item\"><details><summary class=\"wp-block-coblocks-accordion-item__title\"><strong>LULAC Washington Youth Leadership Seminar <\/strong>(WYLS)<\/summary><div class=\"wp-block-coblocks-accordion-item__content\">\n<p>Every year, LULAC Cincinnati sends a High School Senior to Washington DC where they spend a week attending leadership and advocacy training. (WYLS) is LNESC\u2019s annual leadership development program that brings together approximately 50+&nbsp;future rising Latino&nbsp;leaders&nbsp;from across the U.S. and Puerto Rico to Washington, DC and&nbsp;immerses them in a specific public policy area.
